Week 4 and Week 5 Update

little behind on pregnancy update, Grace definitely has a little hard as a rock pouch when she sits, she looks thick on the side and from the back.  

here's what the book says ... lol, what we are looking at for weekly progress

Week 4

Morning sickness should go away and appetite return .... check

One of the early signs of pregnancy is for the dam to "adopt" a toy

Grace has adopted my leg, hand to pet her head, face, body, looks like I'm the "toy" to cuddle

Development of eyes and spinal cord and faces take shape

The fur on the belly and around the nipples thins

It's summer, Grace's coat is kept short to keep her cool, so I don't really notice that on a poodle

Week 5

the vet may be able to detect pregnancy

Many breeders palpatate themselves, I have an ultrasound done instead, I don't want to push or squeeze something I shouldn't so I don't disrupt the puppies or put too much pressure on the dam

Grace's ultrasound is Sept 10th

Development of toes, whisker buds and claws

Eyes now close and gender is known deep in the womb

gender is not discoverable until the puppies whelp

Puppies are now considered fully developed miniature dogs

wow, goes fast doesn't it?!

She may be showing ... she may also gain a little weight particularly if she is going to birth more than 1-2 puppies...

oh yeah, Momma Grace has a bunch in there!  will know how many next week

I will accept as many deposits as we have puppies counted,

we do not know gender until they are born, we can however decide if they wil be black, blue or silver by the time they are about 2 days old

pregnancy update

we had a wonderful day by the bay in Chula Vista, CA today, UKC had an all breeds show for the first time at Bayfront Park  we observed many of Everad's relatives becoming champions and grandchampions and we loved being there.


We took Everad and Grace for the day trip out to the show, they both had a great time.  Grace got many comments how much she looks pregnant.  She definitely is already showing,

Week Two

already she's two weeks along,

Monday August 15th to Sunday August 21, 2011
Embryo will be 4 cell at start of week and 64 cell by end of the week,
Embryo enters the uterus

Momma will need small meals/snacks of high protein such as eggs, lean muscle meats (not pork) or liver is a good practice.


tonight the television had a doorbell ring that will usually bring her to her feet with a bark running towards the front door,

tonight?  not a sound.  Knowing she was in the room, I looked under the end table checking on her, she just rolled her eyes, like, don't move anything.  Momma Grace inspired me to update the blog, she's into Week Two and feeling it.
