more ... PICTURES and updates

Most of them have their eyes open and up and running around

Brought them into the family room with the television on.  They don't have their ears open but you can tell they can hear more than ever.  It was a little stressful for them with new smells, louder, Momma not around for a little while.  They got weighed, pictures taken (put up high on a table with nothing to cuddle up to -- made them very uneasy).  Then nails got trimmed and was neurally stimulated for three seconds each (without reacting to how they act).  Three seconds upside down, three seconds spine erect, head up, three seconds on their back, and then cuddle for as long as they need so they forgive and get over the trauma of being manipulated.

Remember I'm not saying what they will be like in personality, just stating the facts, puppies can change completely by the personality testing, but this will also give you an idea what they were also like at any given stage of growth.

Since this week I've put my poodles back on the raw diet.  I am more confident about their health and overall health so it's raw dog food for us and the puppies will be weaned on it too, but maybe not only raw, so time will tell.  Evaluate ... change ... evaluate some more ... change.  That's the best I can do.

some puppies got more pictures that were better than others, sorry, just the way it works sometimes

Fabien, weighed 1# 15oz
lots of good pictures of Fabien today
He's really fighting to get up on his feet, he wants to get up and walk.  Very hungry guy.  He is the lightest of the two silver puppies.  He's fiesty, could hardly keep him on the table.

I took off a couple of pictures, the camera distorted Fabien's color, he is a black puppy with a brownish-mahogony hue, he's a beautiful puppy in color and structure.

Fae, weighed 1#12oz
She's constantly moving but she's also calm.  Took a few pictures, she took a breath and growled in protest.  Picked her up and she's eating my chin.  Pee'd all by herself, first time I've seen that with the pups.  She's sweet and cuddly but will growl rrr-ruf and then cuddle.

Fanny, weighed 1# 11oz
She's calm but you can feel her heart beat a little faster when she's unsure.  She's calmer like Finn and Florian.  I've been calling her black ... she is getting a few more white hairs on the tufts of her feet.  She might be a dark blue, to the untrained eye a few wondering greying hairs.  She's two weeks old and just now showing some color on her tufts.  She's a very sweet puppy, warm and cuddly.  Pushes up and pushes away from me to look around.  Fanny reminds me of Everad!  She has a small beautiful face

Fifi, weighed 1# 8oz
Big breath after all of the weighing, being in the loud family room, nails, etc., etc.  A lot for a little puppy.   She gave a little growl, cuddles and then a perfect little lap puppy, just wanted to be held.  Fifi is a beautiful color, calm at this point, but likes to cuddle.

Finn, weighed 1# 11oz
eyes not open yet, picks up his head, little growling after the pictures eee-ruf he says.  He struggles on his back, but makes up with cuddles.  Finn is probably a blue boy, his tufts have more white than little Fanny and a lot less than Fabien's and Fiona's.  He's a sweet pretty faced boy.

Fiona,  weighed 1# 11oz
she growls, doesn't want to be turned over to see her pads, she's walking off of the table for pictures, hungry.  The black puppies (2 wk old Fanny & Fiona) look alike today.  About the same size, Fiona has more brown hue than Fanny, but Fanny does have a little.  Fiona when she doesn't like something gets mad rather than nervous.  She's running off of the table today too.  But she's a sweetie too.  She her purple collar and white tufts?

Florian, weighs 1# 14oz
Standing up and wobble walking, this little guy is strong and on the move.  He does not growl or puppy bark until I insist on clipping his back feet nails.  That did not make him happy, but after that, not a word.  He's hungry.  Doesn't struggle on his back, takes a breath and recoups easily.  He's a great little puppy.  I am curious how he tests on the volhard testing, probably an evenly balanced puppy.  He reminds me of Dmitry from last litter (not related by the way to either momma or poppa, just a great little cream puppy)
no collar necessary for Florian, the only cream boy
he's pushing up to walk the whole time, tough to keep him from running off of the table

Please note:  with any litter we reserve the right to keep a specific puppy out of a litter that will work with our breeding program.

Puppy Update

Fabien seems to be jumping out there in size, he's 1# 14oz today, he's the most active.  Remember the growth splurt we talked about, I'm thinking our little silver boy has jumped ahead in size.  His eyes are half open and he's pushing up looking around.

Florian is a calm boy, he's 1# 12oz today.  He rolls around and yawns, this is a calm beautiful cream puppy.

Fae seems to be slowing down in growth, still chunky and calm, she's 1# 10oz today.  Her eyes are half open and she's looking around.  This is a calm, sweet, beautiful little cream girl.

Fifi is the smallest, not underweight by any means.  This beautiful little cream girl is a great little caniche moyen puppy, she's quiet, she acts like the little sister, she's 1# 7oz today.

Fanny still looks black.  She's quiet and will kind of softly sing to me.  She's a beautiful black puppy with very few white hairs on the tufts of her feet.  She might be blue, but then again, her siblings from the previous litter are black with the same tufts.  Fanny is a sweet beautiful little girl, weighed 1# 9oz today.

Finn is also quiet and sweet.  He's putting his head up and looking around, his eyes are about 1/4 open.  He's so sweet, his tufts has more white hairs than Fanny's and much less than Florian's and Fiona's.  Might be a blue, he's black like Fanny at this point.  Weighed 1# 10oz

Fiona weighed 1# 10oz.  I weighed her and she spent the next few minutes gruff and eventually had a big bark ... out loud.  She's not a push over kind of puppy, she's opinionated and sweet and cuddly.

So that's the run down after being weighed this morning.  They are beautiful pups, momma takes good care of them.  I guess my thought is they might be a little bigger than last litter due to less puppies, momma seems to have gained more weight this time.  I am switching momma over to raw dog food.  She's doing fine after discovering a little Giardia, she's on meds and the puppies are unaffected.

blessings,
Paula and Jim

Puppy Pictures

Just too cute, rolling around, making cute little puppy noises, cuddling with each other and momma, smacking their mouths, falling asleep with their mouths open,
fat and happy puppies, that's the way we like em!

I was snapping the camera, each pic is seconds from each other, that's how much each puppy is moving

Night-night puppies

I told Grace, "you get in there and take care of those puppies!"

I go back aout 20 minutes later, puppies are spread out, missed Fabien on his back tummy up, so cute!

they've been fed and pottied, out for the count!  too cute

Genetic Testing

Both the sire and dam are genetically tested and cleared for breeding.  What does that mean to the puppies and their new families?

Peace of Mind!

Grace wasn't feeling well yesterday, off to the vets we went!  Seems she was a little dehydrated with some diaherria.

The vet did a full blood work on her.   Tested her thyroid, blood sugar, hips in case she had developed something, overall infection, x-ray to make sure there wasn't any blockage or remaining placenta, and the test for Addisons (ACTH and LDDS).  Everything is clear!  yeah!!  I didn't know you could actually test for addisons and she's clear of that too.

great news!

Grace and Everad's puppies are clear for addisons with both tested and clear for breeding with their hips, CERF eyes, prcd DNA PRA, thyroid, etc.

Grace's OFA link

Everad's OFA link
Everad is also clear by parentage for vWd and prcd PRA DNA, if you click on his pedigree/testing on our website all of that is also listed.

also ... Everad's momma Clarabella has been tested for DLA.  It's a DNA test that tracts how common a poodle is from time began.  As it turns out, Clarabella is one of those poodles that are tnot a grab bag of poodles.  She has all six varieties with ones and sixes.  Very uncommon.

another reason why Barefoot Pudels are special healthy poodles ... and we give a two year health guarantee on all of our puppies!  Can't go wrong with getting a puppy from us.

enjoy the pictures... these are awesome fabulous puppies!
